When you contact us and complete the New Student Application Form, a member of staff will ask you several questions to determine which of our tutors is the best match for your specific needs. Questions include the student's area of study, academic strengths and weaknesses, location, availability and personal interests. After you are matched with your tutor, the first session is scheduled and the tutor arrives at your home or preferred location. Sessions typically last about one hour. The student should be prepared with homework, study guides and text books provided by their classroom teacher. Unless otherwise requested, your tutor will work along with the student's current curriculum. During the session, the tutor will continually evaluate the student's comprehension of the material and work to fill in gaps where needed. At the end of the session, the tutor may update the parent on the student's progress and you should make arrangements for your next session. We encourage you to schedule regular weekly sessions with your tutor to best facilitate the learning process. You will receive monthly billing statements via email for the sessions scheduled and completed during that billing period. For your convenience, banking details are provided on these statements to allow for Electronic Transfers. 2. How can I get started? The first step to getting started with your own Brainbox tutor is to complete and submit our Student Application Form. A member of staff will promptly contact you to match you with a tutor and set up your first session. Alternatively, you can contact us at info@thebrainbox.co.za or on 082 418 3397. 3. When are tutors available? Our tutors at The Brainbox work around the student's schedule and stay flexible to your scheduling needs. Tutors are available on weekdays as well as weekends during all months of the year. Please discuss your scheduling preferences with a member of staff to ensure the tutor you are matched with meets your availability needs. 4. Where will the tutoring session take place? Brainbox tutors travel to the student's home or preferred location for tutoring sessions. We currently service most areas within South Africa. Please Contact us at info@thebrainbox.co.za or on 082 418 3397 to enquire about your specific location. 5. How far in advance do I have to schedule a session? Once you are matched with your tutor we encourage you to schedule weekly sessions to best facilitate learning. Our tutors' schedules do fill quickly and they may not always be available at the last minute so we encourage you to schedule sessions with as much notice as possible. We recommend one hour sessions as experience has shown this amount of time is most effective for learning. If you need to cancel a scheduled session we ask that you notify the tutor either directly or through the office at least 24 hours in advance. You may be billed 50% for any session cancelled in less than that time. 6. How do I pay for my tutoring sessions? The Brainbox offers a competitive hourly rate for sessions with our tutors. Students receive monthly billing statements via email for sessions scheduled and completed during each billing period. Payments can be made by Electronic Transfer, however other payment options are available upon request but no advance payment is necessary. There are no required minimums for the number of sessions a student works with their tutor. Students may be charged 50% for any scheduled session cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. To enquire about current hourly rates please contact us at info@thebrainbox.co.za or on 082 418 3397. 7. What kind of qualifications do your tutors have? Their exceptional interpersonal skills make them stand above their competition and function additionally as role models.
